5 Ways to Make 2014 Your Best Social Media Year Ever

So you’ve made your personal New Year’s Resolutions, bought the gym membership, and thrown out (or binged on) the last of the potato chips. But have you made any marketing resolutions? Now is a great time to reflect on how you can improve your tactics and strategies, especially when it comes to social media. Here are five ways that you can improve your social media management in 2014:

1. Prioritize

Your brand can’t be on every social media platform, nor should it be; make 2014 the year that you really nail down where your audience is on social media, which of your platforms drives the most traffic, and concentrate your efforts there. Also remember that your priorities can shift if the data shifts; for example, many brands that used to enjoy  massive amounts of traffic on Facebook are now finding that the NewsFeed algorithm change has greatly diminished the usefulness of that site, and have instead concentrated on other platforms.

2. Don’t Be Afraid to Try Something New

Now that you have your social media priorities outlined, don’t completely forsake trying new things. They don’t have to be radical changes; even in-platform experimentation can be hugely beneficial. Have Google+ Communities helped expand your brand’s reach? This year, start playing with hosting a Google Hangout that involves those community members.
